In a major crackdown on criminal activities, the Mohali police have arrested four individuals, including a member linked to the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang, deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Mohit Agarwal revealed on Thursday. The arrests were made in separate cases, with the police recovering four illegal weapons from the accused, who were allegedly planning criminal operations in the city.

The first case involved the apprehension of a close associate of gangster Deepak Banur, a key figure in the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. A team led by inspector Sukhbir Singh, the station house officer of the Phase 1 police station, arrested Aman Kumar, a 22-year-old resident of Zirakpur. During the operation, the police seized a .32-bore pistol, a .315-bore country-made pistol, four live cartridges, a bullet shell, and a magazine from Kumar's possession.

Notably, Kumar's admiration for Deepak Banur runs deep, as evidenced by a tattoo of the gangster's face on his arm, according to DSP Agarwal. "It is clear by the bullet shell that he fired somewhere. We will investigate that soon. He is a notorious element and majorly inspired by Deepak Banur who is already lodged in Model Jail in Chandigarh. Kumar was here to commit a crime, but we are yet to ascertain his target and plans," an officer stated.

DSP Agarwal further revealed that Kumar had previously been arrested by the Sector 34 police under the Arms Act and had recently been released from jail. He has now been booked under the Arms Act at the Phase 1 police station.

In a separate incident, three individuals from Rajasthan – Navdeep Singh, Satnam Singh, and Arshveer – were apprehended by the Mataur police, led by station house officer inspector Gabbar Singh. The police recovered two country-made pistols, five live cartridges, and a small sharpened knife (kirch) from their possession. Additionally, a Mahindra XUV 500 bearing a Chandigarh registration number (CH-01-BC-0545) was also seized.

According to DSP Agarwal, the accused had arrived in Mohali after committing a crime in Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan. While Navdeep Singh had been previously booked in four criminal cases in Sri Ganganagar, Satnam Singh had one case registered against him.

A fresh case under the Arms Act has been filed at the Mataur police station, and authorities are investigating the trio's potential associations with any gangs. "With their arrest, we have been able to prevent both the modules from striking here. The trio escaped after firing in Sri Ganganagar recently. We got a tip-off regarding the same following which they were nabbed here," the DSP added.

The Mohali police's decisive action against these criminal elements underscores their commitment to maintaining law and order in the region and ensuring the safety of its citizens.
