An incident has come to light from Kerala’s Thrissur district where a woman lost her life after eating ‘Biryani’ from a local restaurant in Perinjanam region. Not only this, at least 178 people have been admitted to the hospital due to complaints of vomiting, diarrhea and other issues.

According to the reports, the victim has been identified as Uzaiba (56), a resident of Kutilakkadav. She was admitted to Thrissur Medical College after complaining about stomach aches and vomiting. Reportedly, her two relatives were also admitted there.

Soon after getting the complaint, the officials of the health department, representatives from the Food Safety department, Panchayat officials and other officials inspected the restaurant and collected the food samples and sent them for testing. The officials also assured of the strict action against the restaurant owner and asserted that the cause of death will be clear once the sample report comes.

After conducting the visit, the health officials found that the hotel was operating in unhygienic conditions. Vineetha Mohandas, Perinjanam panchayat president has claimed that the same hotel came to light six months back, when it was closed by the officials due to complaints about unhygienic food.

Meanwhile, Kapipamangalam police have registered a case of unnatural death and have shut the hotel till reports come.
