RJD chief and former railway minister Lalu Yadav, along with his wife and former Bihar CM Rabri Devi, has been under scrutiny. Previously, Rabri Devi was questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and now the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is recording her statement regarding money laundering allegations.

The case of land-for-jobs involves alleged appointments in the railway sector that were supposedly exchanged for land parcels granted or sold to Yadav’s family during his tenure as the minister of railways from 2004 to 2009. According to the allegations, the jobs were offered in return for land parcels that were either gifted or sold at discounted rates to the Yadav family and their associates.

In March, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) interrogated RJD chief and former railway minister Lalu Prasad regarding his involvement in the land-for-jobs case.

In October 2022, the CBI filed a chargesheet in the case, charging 16 individuals, including Lalu Prasad Yadav and his wife Rabri Devi, with criminal conspiracy and corruption. The chargesheet stated that the case was initiated following a preliminary inquiry into the actions of Lalu Prasad and others.

Special judge Geetanjali Goel had issued summons to the accused individuals on February 27, instructing them to appear in court on March 15.

On March 15, RJD chief Lalu Prasad, his wife Rabri Devi, and their daughter Misa Bharti were granted bail by a Delhi court in relation to the case.

The court observed that the chargesheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is investigating the matter, did not include any arrests. It directed each accused person to submit a personal bail bond of Rs 50,000 along with an equal amount as surety.
