Kunal Kamra Faces Heat: Third Summons Issued, Must Appear Before Cops on April 5

Controversial comedian Kunal Kamra finds himself in escalating trouble as the Mumbai Police have issued a third summons, demanding his appearance on April 5. The repeated notices signal a deepening legal battle for Kamra, whose outspoken persona and sharp critiques may now land him in hotter water than ever before.

Mumbai: Trouble mounts for Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra as he is again summoned by Mumbai Police for making derogatory comments against Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The Comedian will now have to appear on April 5th. 

He is now being called for questioning, but he has not appeared on the 2 notices issued so far. After this, now a third notice has been issued to him.

Relief from Madras High Court

Kunal Kamra had approached the Madras High Court in this case and filed an anticipatory bail petition in the court. The comedian had applied for transit anticipatory bail in the court. The lawyers had demanded an immediate hearing before the main bench of the Madras High Court. A case is registered against Kamra in Maharashtra, but he is currently in Tamil Nadu. The Madras High Court ordered not to take any action against Kamra till April 7.

Shinde supporters got FIR registered

The Mumbai Police had earlier sent two summons to Kamra after registering an FIR on March 24 based on a complaint by Shiv Sena MLA Murji Patel. Three separate cases have been registered against the comedian at the Khar Police Station. According to the Mumbai Police, one complaint was filed by the mayor of Jalgaon city, while the other two were filed by a hotelier and a businessman from Nashik.

Trouble mounts for Kunal Kamra

Kunal Kamra had released a video on social media handle X on March 23. Kunal Kamra had used a parody version of a song from the 1997 film Dil To Pagal Hai, targeting Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Shinde supporters were enraged by his show. After this, Shinde supporters vandalized the studio in which the show was held. They broke the lights and chairs of the studio. Maharashtra Police is currently investigating this matter.
