Chowdhury condemned the state administrations response, asserting, “It is condemnable. The state government should take action but remains in a dilemma. The law and order situation is worsening. The victims body was discovered with severe injuries inside a seminar hall at the state-run RG Kar Medical College Hospital last Friday. Following the discovery, the police arrested a civic volunteer named Sanjay Roy in connection with the crime.Chief Justice TS Sivagnanam, leading a division bench, directed the CBI probe after reviewing the case diary and noting that the police had made no significant progress over the past five days. The court also remarked that Dr. Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of the medical college, should have been questioned earlier. Dr. Ghosh resigned on Monday, taking moral responsibility for the incident.BJP demands resignations and arrestsIn response to the high courts ruling, West Bengals opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Adhikari stated, “We want the resignation of the Health Minister and Chief Minister. We want Kolkata CP Vineet Goyal, personal physician of CM - Dr. SP Das, and Dr. Sandip Ghosh (former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital) to be arrested. They are the main architects of this genocide. This is a brutal murder and gang rape,” according to ANI.
