Former Indian cricket captain, Sourav Ganguly will join the junior doctors protesting over the alleged rape and muder case of a 31-year old post graduate trainee doctor at the RG Kar medical college.
His participation towards the ongoing doctors protest came out when he changed his social media profile picture to black in mourning. Ganguly expressed his sorrow over the incident through his X handle. Ganguly also faced criticism for his comments describing the crime as a "one off" incident. But he later clarified his remarks by condemning the crime and calling for harshest punishment against such horrific crimes.

"I don't think everything should be judged on an isolated incident. There is no room to that everything or everyone is not safe for this (incident). Such incidents happen all over the world not only in West Bengal, but everywhere in India." Ganguly stated through his tweet on his X handle.
On August 9, a 31-year-old post graduate trainee doctor was allegedly raped and murdered at Kolkata's RG Kar hospital and medical college, which led to an outrageous nationwide protests in the days to come.
The parents of the victim were initially told by the hospital authorities that their daughter had committed suicide. But later after the autopsy it was confirmed that the victim was raped and killed. This incident led to a breakdown of doctors protesting on streets on Monday, demanding for security measures and justice for the victim.
