In a tragic turn of events on August 9, a middle-class family in North Kolkata received three heart-wrenching calls that shattered their world. Their daughter, a dedicated doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, had been brutally raped and murdered. These calls, made the morning after the incident, have now surfaced, revealing the traumatic experience her parents endured.

According to NDTV, the first call came at 10:53 AM, from the Assistant Superintendent of the hospital. According to the timeline submitted by Kolkata Police to the Supreme Court, this call was to "inform" the parents, although the details of the conversation were not initially disclosed. However, the audio recordings were obtained by the media house tells that the parents were not informed of their daughter's death until the third call, adding to their confusion and distress.

In the first call, the Assistant Superintendent vaguely mentioned that the daughter's condition was critical, urging the parents to rush to the hospital. When pressed for details, the caller only responded, "The doctor will say that, you come fast."

The second call, made by a male staff member, reiterated the urgency but still withheld the truth. The parents, already on their way to the hospital, were again told to come quickly without being informed of the gravity of the situation.

It was in the third call that the horrifying truth was finally revealed. The same Assistant Superintendent informed the parents that their daughter had allegedly died by suicide, leading to an outpouring of grief as the mother screamed, "My daughter is no more."

The hospital administration’s handling of the situation, including the delay in informing the parents and the lack of a formal police complaint by the hospital, has been heavily scrutinized in both the Calcutta High Court and the Supreme Court. The parents, in their petition, expressed suspicion that the delay was intentional, while Kolkata Police maintains that the parents were brought to the body within 10 minutes of arriving at the hospital.

Reflecting on the devastating moment they saw their daughter’s body, the father told NDTV, "Only I know what I went through when I saw her. There were no clothes on her body. She was only draped in a bedsheet. Her legs were apart, with one hand on her head."
