Kochi horror: Unmarried woman gives birth in washroom, throws newborn like trash

In a shocking incident, a 23-year-old unmarried woman gave birth in her Kochi apartment's washroom and callously threw the newborn's body from the fifth floor onto the street below, likened to a discarded garbage pack. The police acted, tracing the perpetrator using the barcode from an online delivery pack utilized to wrap the infant.

The tragic event occurred around 8 AM in Panampilly Nagar, a residential area in Kochi, captured on CCTV as the baby, wrapped in a manner akin to garbage, was hurled from the apartment.

Suspected rape victim

Kochi's city police commissioner, S Syamsundar, revealed that the woman, suspected to be a rape victim, had been residing with her parents in the flat for several years. She recounted delivering the baby in her bedroom's washroom around 5 AM, followed by the distressing act by 8 AM due to anxiety, evident from bloodstains in the washroom.

Authorities await the postmortem report to determine if the baby was stillborn. The woman's parents were unaware of her pregnancy, adding complexity to the situation.
