Top officials from the Delhi Police conducted a thorough security review at Rashtrapati Bhavan in preparation for Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony for his third term as Prime Minister on June 9. In light of heightened security protocols, special arrangements have been implemented to ensure the safety of foreign dignitaries attending the event. Enhanced security measures are in place at four designated hotels where these dignitaries will reside.
In addition to on-ground security measures, the Delhi Police issued a public advisory on Friday, declaring a No-Fly Zone over the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi. The advisory prohibits the operation of sub-conventional aerial platforms to prevent potential threats from criminals, anti-social elements, or terrorists during the ceremony.
The advisory further noted that this prohibition would be in effect from June 9 to June 10. Any violators will face penalties under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code. These measures follow the formal appointment of Narendra Modi as Prime Minister by the President of India on Friday. Letters of support from NDA constituent parties were also presented to the President earlier in the week.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi had his first meeting with the people of Kashi on Thursday evening after winning from the Varanasi parliamentary constituency. PM Modi defeated Congress candidate Ajay Rai by a margin of 152,513 votes, with Modi receiving 612,970 votes and Rai receiving 460,457 votes. The Bahujan Samaj Party candidate, Ather Jamal Lari, secured the third position with 33,766 votes. "PM Modi respectfully accepted the certificate, calling it a mandate from the people," the release stated. According to the Election Commission of India, the BJP won 240 seats, lower than its 2019 tally of 303, while the Congress saw a significant improvement, winning 99 seats.
