Given the farmers’ agitation, railways have released the three-day schedule. Railways have given instructions to cancel the trains which were earlier canceled for one day and now for three days. Some changes have been made to the schedule of 101 long-distance trains.

It is worth noting that farmers’ agitation has been going on for the past several days at the Shambhu border of Punjab and Haryana. Farmers have blocked the railway track with their demands. Due to this, the operation of trains has been affected for the last 15 days which is continuing.

North Western Railway has announced the cancellation of 16 trains. Most of these trains have been canceled for the next three days while some trains have been canceled for the next 9 days. Some trains are being run with diversion routes. Chief Public Relations Officer of North Western Railway, Captain Shashi Kiran said that rail traffic has been affected due to the farmers' agitation in Ambala division. Passengers should get information about the operation of trains before traveling on the train so that they do not face inconvenience.

According to the sources, the railways have decided to run 41 trains via Dhuri-Jakhal and 60 trains via Chandigarh-Sahnewal. However, trains operating via Dhuri-Jakhal take a long time to reach the destination while it takes three to four hours to cross the 50 km stretch of Chandigarh-Sahnewal rail section. In such a situation, the consequences of this are being borne by those passengers who had made reservations on trains two months ago.

The departmental officers have also been entrusted with the responsibility of identifying such trains and making arrangements for their quick evacuation through a single route. This also includes summer special trains run by the Railways.

Operations remained affected

Due to the impact of the Ambala-Ludhiana railway section, passengers traveling towards Punjab, Jammu, and Bathinda are facing a lot of problems. Due to the closure of the main line, trains are not fully functional on these routes. Railways completely canceled 69 trains due to security reasons, while 101 trains were run on alternative routes. Whereas, 8 trains were canceled midway and re-run.
