New Delhi: A shocking case has emerged in Uttarakhands Kedarnath where police in charge have molested a female pilgrim. A case of harassment involving a female pilgrim has been reported. In response to the womans complaint, the Uttarakhand police immediately suspended the Kedarnath checkpoint in-charge and two other officers involved.Details of the incidentAccording to reports, the female pilgrim faced harassment by two officers during her visit to Kedarnath. Based on her complaint to the CM helpline and the DGP, the police registered a case against the accused officers at the Sonprayag police station.Police Action and InvestigationThe police stated that the names provided by the woman were different, which delayed the investigation. SP Rudraprayag, Vishakha Ashok Bhadane, confirmed that a case was registered on June 28 and the accused checkpoint in charge and the officers were suspended immediately.Pilgrim Surge and Safety MeasuresAs the Char Dham Yatra progresses, large crowds of pilgrims continue to visit the holy sites. Kedarnath Dham, in particular, has seen the highest number of visitors from various states. Due to the monsoon season, helicopter services have been suspended.Following their visit to Kedarnath, pilgrims also visit Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri Dhams. In light of the heavy influx of devotees, the administration has deployed additional police forces to ensure the safety and security of all visitors.Similar incident in the pastThe incident dates back to May last year when a female pilgrim from Madhya Pradesh visited Kedarnath. A friend contacted the Kedarnath checkpoint in charge to arrange accommodation for her. Following the in-charges instructions, an officer stationed at Kedarnath provided her with a place to stay in the police camp. Allegedly, the officers then harassed her. Upon returning, the woman filed complaints with the Uttarakhand CM helpline and the DGP.
