In preparation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Assam's Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve on March 8-9, the jeep and elephant safaris in the Kohora range will be closed to visitors during his stay.

"The jeep safari and elephant ride in Kaziranga Range, Kohora, will remain closed to visitors. Jeep Safari will remain closed on March 7, 8 and 9 - forenoon and elephant ride will remain closed on March 8 and 9," said Arun Vignesh, Divisional Forest Officer of the Eastern Assam Wildlife Division.

PM Modi is expected to arrive at the park on the evening of March 8th and spend the night. His itinerary includes enjoying jungle safaris within the Kohora range during his two-day visit. Both jeep and elephant rides have been planned as Kaziranga celebrates its Golden Jubilee as a national park after being designated in 1974.

On March 9th, PM Modi will unveil a 125-foot bronze statue of legendary Ahom general Lachit Barphukan in Jorhat. He will also perform house-warming ceremonies for 55,000 new homes built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana housing scheme, lay the foundation stone for Sivasagar Medical College, and address a public gathering in Meleng Meteli Pothar, Jorhat.

After Assam, the Prime Minister will visit Arunachal Pradesh on March 9th. He is scheduled to inaugurate the Sela Tunnel in West Kameng and multiple development projects in the state capital Itanagar, according to official releases.

The high-profile visit aims to highlight the BJP's commitment to developing infrastructure and services in India's Northeast. The temporary safari closures will provide security and exclusivity as PM Modi experiences Kaziranga's famed wildlife firsthand.
