Senior political leaders in Jammu and Kashmir have categorically condemned the terrorist attack on non-local labourers in Shopian on Thursday. The attack left three labourers injured.

Taking to Twitter, the National Conference Vice President and former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah said, “Very unfortunate. I unreservedly condemn this attack and send my best wishes to the injured. I hope they make a complete & speedy recovery.”

Mehbooba Mufti, the President of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), took to her official Twitter handle to write, “Condemn the attack on non-locals at Shopian today. I pray for their swift recovery.”

Altaf Thakur, the BJP spokesperson in Jammu and Kashmir, said, “Strongly denounce the attack on unarmed non local labourers in Gagran, Shopian district by the terrorists. This reflects frustration, inhumanity and cheapness of terrorists involved [in] the gruesome attack on three non local labourers who had gone to buy grocery items.”

Terrorists attack three migrant labourers in Shopian; flee in darkness

Three non-local labourers were fired upon by two masked gunmen in the Gagram area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district. The attack took place on Thursday evening, and the gunmen fled taking advantage of the darkness.

“Terrorists fired upon three outside labourers in Shopian. Injured persons are Anmol Kumar, Pintu Kumar Thakur and Heralal Yadav, all residents of Distt Supaul, Bihar, being shifted to hospital,” the Kashmir Zone Police said in a statement on Twitter.

The three labourers were rushed to the Shri Maharaja Hari Singh hospital in Srinagar, where they are being treated for critical injuries.
