Amarnath yatra attack
National News: Terrorists opened fire on Tuesday in the Basaron area of Pahalgam, a tourist destination in the Anantnag district of South Kashmir. One of the tourists who became victims of the attack died on the spot, while more than a dozen people were injured. The condition of many of the injured is said to be critical. The terrorist organisation The Resistance Front (TRF) has taken responsibility for the incident.
The incident happened when the influx of tourists in Kashmir Valley, including Pahalgam, was increasing. The Amarnath Yatra is scheduled to begin in a few months, in view of which the attack is considered a pre-planned conspiracy. There was a stir in the entire area as soon as the attack took place.
The security forces and the local police took the front as soon as the firing was reported. An intensive search operation is being conducted by surrounding the entire area. All the paths are being monitored strictly so that the attackers do not get any chance to escape. The injured are immediately admitted to hospitals, where they are undergoing treatment.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed deep concern over this attack and has directed Home Minister Amit Shah to take necessary action. The Home Minister has called a high-level security meeting in view of the seriousness of the attack, in which an extensive review of the security situation of Jammu and Kashmir is being done.
TRF is a militant organisation considered to be the front organisation of Lashkar-e-Taiba. It was formed after the removal of Article 370, and its aim was to give terror a fake face of local support in Kashmir. The Government of India has declared it a terrorist organisation
The history of TRF has been to attack citizens, tourists, and non-local workers. Even before this, this organisation has spread violence in the valley. According to security agencies, this organisation has also been doing publicity and provocation on social media
Since the Amarnath Yatra is going to start in the coming time, such incidents question the safety of the passengers. The central government and the state administration have indicated the security system and tightened the attack, considering this attack as very serious.
While the investigating agencies are looking for the attackers, the government has made it clear that no terror in the country will be tolerated. Work has started on a comprehensive strategy to maintain peace in the valley and uproot the terrorist network from the root.
