As the count down for the significant ‘Pran-Pratishtha’ celebration of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya has begun, the committee has decided for the idol also. The statue created by Karnataka-born sculptor Yogiraj Arun has been finalised for the Ram Mandir on January 22.

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi confirmed as much on his social media handle on Monday, saying a renowned idol-maker from the 'land of Hanuman' will see his piece of creation find pride of place at the Ram Temple on January 22.

Given that Karnataka is home to a large Hanuman temple and is thought to be the god's birthplace, Joshi described the state-sculpted statue chosen for the Ram Temple as a "example of Rama-Hanuman's inextricable relationship".

Meanwhile, Yogiraj’s mother Saraswathi expressed happiness for the selection of the idol.

According to the statement by trust, designs by three sculptors were under consideration. Among the figures being considered for the grand installation inside the sanctum sanctorum of the Ram Temple was a 51-inch-tall idol, depicting a five-year-old 'Ram Lalla'.
