In a distressing event in Ramnagar, Karnataka, a drug-addicted neighbor abducted a 7-year-old girl, hiding her in a cement warehouse approximately 500 meters from her home. The abductor, a 22-year-old painter named Darshan, was apprehended by the girl’s father and local residents before being handed over to the police. The authorities have filed an FIR and arrested the suspect.
According to the sources, Darshan, who is unemployed and struggles with drug addiction, carried out the kidnapping with the intent of demanding ransom. He restrained the girl by taping her hands and mouth, then concealed her in a cement warehouse. Fortunately, the timely intervention of local residents, who responded to the girl's disappearance, led to her rescue. After a search initiated by the girl's father and around 15-20 others, Darshan fled the scene upon hearing their approach. The girl was found in a state of distress but was safely recovered from the warehouse.
As per Ramnagar SP Karthik Reddy, the girl went missing around 7:30-8:00 PM on Sunday. The abductor used an internet call to demand ransom from the girl's parents. Witnesses near the Ganesh pandal reported suspicious activity, which led to the girl's rescue. Darshan has been taken into custody at Ijur Police Station, where an investigation is ongoing.
This incident has garnered significant attention due to the brave actions of local residents and the quick response of law enforcement. The community's vigilance and the police’s swift action prevented a potentially tragic outcome. The case highlights the critical role of public awareness and prompt action in safeguarding vulnerable individuals.
