Farmers' Protest: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed strong condemnation on Monday regarding the arrest of farmers from Hubballi in Madhya Pradesh. The farmers were en route to the national capital to participate in protests against the central government's agricultural policies.

Demands for Release

Siddaramaiah demanded the immediate release of the detained farmers by the Madhya Pradesh government and urged them to allow the farmers to join the ongoing protests at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. He emphasized the need for the farmers to exercise their democratic right to protest peacefully.

Allegations Against Central Government

The Chief Minister did not mince words in attributing the responsibility for the arrests to the central BJP government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He condemned the central government's actions as an attempt to suppress the farmers' legitimate struggle for their rights.

Historical Aggression Against Farmers

Siddaramaiah drew attention to a pattern of aggression against farmers whenever the BJP assumes power, citing historical instances of violence and repression. He highlighted past incidents in Karnataka and other states where farmers were subjected to brutality for demanding their rights.

Modi Government's Approach

Expressing concern over the Modi government's handling of the farmers' protests, Siddaramaiah accused the government of adopting intimidatory tactics to quell dissent. He criticized the imposition of Section 144, diversion of traffic, and the use of barricades to obstruct the protesters.

Support from Samyukta Kisan Morcha

The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) echoed Siddaramaiah's sentiments, denouncing the Modi government's dictatorial approach towards the farmers' protests. They condemned the arrests of several leaders and activists in Madhya Pradesh and called for solidarity from all political parties and organizations.

Appeal for Solidarity

SKM urged political parties and civil society organizations to condemn the heavy-handed tactics employed by the Modi administration. They emphasized the need for unified support to uphold the farmers' right to peaceful protest and demand justice for those detained unlawfully.
