Karnataka traffic policeman dragged on car bonnet: A traffic police officer in Karnataka’s Shivamogga district narrowly escaped death on Thursday after being dragged on the bonnet of a car during a routine traffic check. The incident unfolded around 2 pm near Sahyadri College when the driver, identified as Mithun Jagadale, a local cable operator, attempted to evade police inspection.
According to Shivamogga Superintendent of Police, Mithun, officers were conducting routine vehicle checks when they signaled a car approaching from Bhadravati to stop. Instead of complying, Jagadale sped up, forcing the traffic policeman to cling to the car bonnet to avoid being run over. The officer was dragged for over 100 meters before the driver fled the scene, creating a chaotic situation on the busy road.
“A traffic police personnel on duty narrowly escaped death after being dragged on a car bonnet on Thursday, October 24 in front of Sahyadri College in Shivamogga city. The police personnel was dragged for over 100 meters. The incident took place around 2 pm, while traffic police were conducting routine checks near the college. When they signaled a car coming from Bhadravati to stop, the driver sped up towards the personnel, forcing him to cling to the bonnet to avoid being crushed,” stated the SP.
Following the incident, the accused driver, Mithun Jagadale, was apprehended by local authorities. An in-depth investigation has been launched to understand the motive behind Jagadale’s attempt to evade the check and to gather additional information on the case.
“The accused’s name is Mithun Jagadale, he worked as a cable operator. Police have arrested him, and investigation is on,” the SP added.
