They were thankful that after traveling just 1 kilometer from the postmortem house, they had doubts, which prompted them to uncover the body and prevent the grave mistake.Suspicion sparked by unusual detailsAccording to Anitas husband, Manoj, the confusion arose when employees announced that the postmortem of Anitas body had been completed and the family was called to collect the body. Trusting the employees, Manoj and his family took the body for the last rites. However, the bodys unusual heaviness raised doubts, and upon checking, they realized it wasnt Anita. Manoj claims that upon returning to the postmortem house, employees were uncooperative and quarrelsome. Fortunately, the Muslim family had not yet taken the body of Anita.Tragic incident leads to the mix-upManoj explained that his wife, Anita, had passed away after suffering injuries from a fall at their home in Ghazipur, Fatehpur, on Thursday. Her body was sent for a postmortem. At the same time, Resham, a resident of Rasulabad in Kanpur Dehat, had also passed away, and her body was also sent to the postmortem house. Due to negligence, the bodies were swapped.Police investigation underwayWhen Manoj filed a complaint with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Kanpur, Dr. Alok Ranjan, the mix-up was quickly resolved.
