Kamareddy minor rape: In a distressing incident that has sparked widespread fury, hundreds of Muslim youths were detained by the police in Kamareddy following their protests against the heinous rape of a six-year-old Muslim girl by Mailaram Nagaraju, a Physical Education Teacher (PET) at Jeevadhan School.
The tragic event unfolded when Nagaraju, aged 26, allegedly locked the young victim in a classroom on Monday and committed the crime. The gravity of the assault has shocked the community, prompting immediate and intense public reaction.
Response of the locals was swift and vociferous, with protesters demanding stringent punishment for Nagaraju. However, as tensions escalated, the police resorted to a lathi charge to manage the crowd, leading to injuries among the demonstrators. Four police officers also sustained injuries during the confrontation.

Authorities have taken cognizance of the incident, registering a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against the accused. Nagaraju was apprehended by the police on Tuesday, marking the beginning of legal proceedings against him.
This incident has not only highlighted the vulnerability of children but also strained relations between the community and the local law enforcement, as the method of crowd dispersal has been criticized.
