In a troubling incident from Ghaziabad’s Panchsheel Society, a local Maulana, Alamgir, was harassed and forced to chant 'Jai Shri Ram' while on his way to teach Quran to children from a Muslim family. The confrontation occurred inside the society’s elevator, where a man named Manoj Prajapati stopped the Maulana and began questioning him.

Forced to chant slogan

According to reports, Prajapati, a member of a fringe group, demanded that Maulana Alamgir chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’. When the Maulana refused, Prajapati forced him out of the elevator and called over an accomplice, once again insisting that the Maulana chant the slogan. The situation escalated as Prajapati took the Maulana’s mobile number and made a call to verify his identity, even going so far as to check whether he was a Bangladeshi national.

Community outrage

This incident has sparked outrage within the Muslim community, further intensifying concerns about religious discrimination and harassment. Many have raised their voices against the growing intolerance faced by Muslims in India. The Maulana’s harassment inside a residential society highlights the rising trend of religiously motivated confrontations.
