Bail Granted Due to Lack of Evidence

The Bombay High Court granted bail to Waspi Mehmud Khan alias Vasim Chikna and Gaurav Vinod Bhatia alias Sandeep Bishnoi, who were arrested in connection with the alleged plot to attack Salman Khan at his Panvel farmhouse. Justice N R Borkar approved their bail applications. The court noted the absence of substantial incriminating evidence against the two men, apart from their presence in a WhatsApp group where the alleged conspiracy was discussed.

Allegations and Defense Arguments

Police investigations revealed a conspiracy to attack Khan at his farmhouse, following a firing incident outside the actor's house in Bandra in April 2024. The accused were allegedly connected to Ajay Kashyap, who had conducted a recce at the farmhouse and was in contact with Vaspi and Gaurav, identified as members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. However, the defense argued that the allegations were concocted for media attention, emphasizing that their clients were neither part of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang nor involved in the conspiracy. They also pointed out that another co-accused, Deepak Gogoi, who managed transportation for the alleged crime, had already been granted bail.

Court's Decision and Conditions

The court granted bail based on parity, noting that Deepak Gogoi had already received bail in 2024. The court highlighted that the only allegation against the duo was their presence in the WhatsApp group, with no recovery of incriminating material and vague WhatsApp chats. As a condition of their bail, the court has restricted the movement of the two men, preventing them from entering Mumbai city and its suburban districts until the trial concludes
