New Delhi: For the first time, leaders of all opposition parties gathered at the Makar Gate of the new Parliament, presenting a united front against the Central government. On Monday, they collectively demanded an end to the misuse of central agencies. The INDIA coalition leaders asserted that arresting and imprisoning a ruling Chief Minister is illegal and called for the cessation of the ED and CBI's misuse. They emphasised that opposition leaders are being unfairly targeted and argued that Arvind Kejriwal has committed no crime to warrant his detention in Tihar Jail.

Allegations of Misuse of Power

An Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MP condemned the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal in the Delhi liquor policy case, deeming it unjust. Leaders of the INDIA coalition echoed these sentiments, raising slogans against the Central government. The opposition alleges that these arrests are part of a broader strategy by the Narendra Modi government to incarcerate opposition members. The INDIA bloc leaders called for an end to what they described as tyrannical methods being used against the opposition.

Participation of Prominent Leaders

The protest saw participation from several prominent leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, and Congress leaders such as Shashi Tharoor, KC Venugopal, Manish Tewari, K Suresh, Varsha Gaikwad, Jose K Mani, Sagarika Ghosh, Priyanka Chaturvedi, Anto Antony, and Sanjay Singh. They all vociferously demanded the immediate release of Arvind Kejriwal.

Slogans and Demands

Outside the Parliament, leaders of the INDIA bloc chanted slogans and displayed posters with messages like "Stop the misuse of ED, IT, and CBI," "End dictatorship," "Join BJP, get a license for corruption," "Respect the opposition," and "Break the silence." The opposition has long accused the central agencies of being misused. There has been significant uproar over the arrests of individuals such as Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Arvind Kejriwal. Additionally, there was commotion in Parliament over the NEET issue.
