A distressing incident has come to light from Haryana, where Sonu Bala, hailing from Jind district, was en route to Portugal after selling his agricultural land and fell victim to a mafia group in Russia

The video that surfaced on social media shows that in a harrowing turn of events, the criminals recorded a distressing video of him and demanded a ransom of 25 lakhs from his wife and brother and showing that they have suffocated him to death and disconnected the call.

The family is now in a state of panic, seeking help from authorities. However, there is no official statement on this yet.

This incident highlights the growing concerns around the safety of individuals traveling abroad and the pervasive threat of organized crime in foreign nations. It needs to be highlighted that travelers can become targets for kidnapping, extortion, and scams, often due to their unfamiliarity with local laws and customs.

Reports of such incidents are rising, raising alarms among families and authorities. Awareness and vigilance are crucial for anyone venturing overseas, and it is essential for governments to enhance protective measures and offer guidance. As globalization continues, the need for robust safety protocols and traveler education is more critical than ever to mitigate risks associated with international travel.
