In an unprecedented move, Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) has been imposed within a 100-metre radius of crucial sites in Ranchi, including the Jharkhand Chief Minister's residence, Raj Bhavan, and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office. This tactical imposition aligns with the ongoing questioning of Chief Minister Hemant Soren by the ED in connection with an alleged money laundering case linked to a land scam.

Anticipating Unrest: Imposition of Section 144

The Sub-Divisional Office issued an official order for the curfew, anticipating potential rallies, processions, or protests in response to the ED's questioning of CM Hemant Soren. The imposition aims to maintain public order and prevent any untoward incidents during this critical phase of the investigation.

ED's Inquiry into Money Laundering Case

A team of ED officials arrived at Chief Minister Hemant Soren's residence earlier in the day for questioning. The inquiry is part of the money laundering case associated with an alleged land scam. Notably, this marks the tenth summons issued to CM Soren by the ED, indicating the gravity of the investigation.

CM Soren's Preparedness and Response

Following a late-night meeting at Soren's residence on Tuesday, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) MP Mahua Maji conveyed that Hemant Soren expressed his readiness to face the ED on January 31 without any fear. The ED had earlier faced challenges locating the Chief Minister, prompting the issuance of fresh summons for questioning.

Political Response and Public Outcry

The deployment of heavy police forces around the Chief Minister's residence underscores the tense atmosphere surrounding the ED's inquiry. Concurrently, JMM workers gathered at Morabadi ground to protest against the ED's actions. Chanting "Hemant Soren Zindabad," they voiced their support for the Chief Minister and planned a march to Raj Bhavan in protest against the ED's activities in Jharkhand.

Unique Measures Amidst Political Turmoil

The imposition of Section 144 and the heightened security presence paint a unique picture of political and public sentiments in Jharkhand. The events unfolding in Ranchi showcase the delicate balance between law enforcement, political responses, and public reactions during high-profile investigations.

As the situation evolves, the strategic imposition of Section 144 will likely play a pivotal role in maintaining order and ensuring the safety of key locations amidst the ED's intensified scrutiny of the Jharkhand Chief Minister.
