New Delhi: In a disturbing turn of events, barely a day after the alleged gang-rape of a Spanish tourist in Jharkhand's Dumka, another incident of assault has surfaced. This time, a member of an orchestra troupe from Chhattisgarh was attacked by three men in Jharkhand's Palamu district late on Saturday.

Details of the assault

According to the FIR filed on Sunday with Palamu's Bishrampur police, the victim, a dancer, was assaulted by three men, all known to her. While two of the perpetrators have been apprehended, a search is underway for the third individual.

Circumstances leading to the assault

The survivor, a 21-year-old dancer, was invited for a show by one of the accused, identified as Golu Kumar. However, the event was cancelled, and she ended up staying in Kumar's room. According to Bishrampur SDPO Rakesh Singh, the survivor alleged that she was given a drink that rendered her unconscious, following which the assault took place.

Legal actions taken

The two arrested assailants have been identified as Ajay Kumar and Deewana Kumar. However, Golu Kumar remains at large. All three individuals have been charged under Sections 328 (causing hurt) and 376 (2) (rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The incident adds to the growing concerns regarding the safety and security of individuals, particularly women, in the region. It underscores the urgent need for stringent measures to ensure the protection of citizens and swift justice for victims of such heinous crimes.
