Hemant Soren ED Probe: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has lodged a formal complaint under the SC/ST Act against Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials, marking a dramatic turn in the ongoing probe into the alleged land scam. The ED team arrived at the CM's residence in Ranchi at 1:15 pm to question him, leading to heightened security measures and political tensions.
A team of seven ED officers is grilling Hemant Soren about his involvement in the land scam. The ED has issued 10 summons to the Chief Minister thus far. The questioning is part of a broader investigation into a money laundering case linked to the alleged land scam in Jharkhand. The ED's visit triggered the deployment of a significant number of security forces to maintain order.
In response to the ED inquiry, supporters of CM Hemant Soren have mobilized in Ranchi, expressing solidarity with their leader. Accusations of harassment against the tribal leader have surfaced, leading to the preparation of protests. Despite the mounting tensions, local authorities have enforced stringent security measures to curb any potential unrest.
Health Minister and Congress leader Banna Gupta acknowledged Soren's cooperation with the investigation, emphasizing the need for constitutional institutions to conduct thorough and fair inquiries. State Agriculture Minister Badal Patralekh declared unanimous support from all MLAs for the Chief Minister, underscoring political solidarity.
Protests erupted at Morhabadi Maidan and other locations, with JMM supporters condemning the ED's actions against Soren. Alleging deliberate harassment orchestrated by the Centre, protesters declared their intent to initiate an economic blockade across the state to voice their discontent.
As the ED's interrogation unfolds, Jharkhand witnesses a confluence of political unrest, public outcry, and accusations of targeted harassment, adding a layer of complexity to the ongoing investigation.
