UP Crime News: An incident involving anti-national slogans during a Barawafat procession in Jaunpur has prompted immediate action from local authorities. On September 16, during the Barawafat procession in the Machhli Shahar Kotwali police station area, some participants allegedly waved Palestinian flags and chanted slogans such as "Palestine Zindabad."

They were accused of raising slogans deemed anti-national by some observers. A video capturing the alleged activities was recorded by a bystander and subsequently shared widely on social media platforms.

Video goes viral

The video quickly went viral, attracting significant attention and concern. It was tagged with Jaunpur police’s social media handles, prompting the authorities to take immediate action. In response, the Jaunpur police have registered a case against unknown individuals and initiated an investigation into the matter.

Police response

Girendra Kumar Singh, the Area Officer for Machhli Shahar, confirmed that the police have begun verifying the video and identifying those involved. “We are thoroughly investigating the incident and have intensified our efforts to apprehend the accused,” Singh stated. The charges being considered include sections related to sedition, reflecting the gravity of the allegations.

In a similar case in Madhya Pradesh, police have also registered complaints and detained several individuals over related issues. The Jaunpur police are working to ensure that those responsible for the alleged anti-national activities are held accountable.
