Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan Yoshimasa Hayashi arrived in New Delhi on Thursday as he begins his two-day official visit to India.

“A warm welcome to FM Hayashi of Japan to India for the 15th India-Japan Ministerial Strategic Dialogue to be held later today. Wide-ranging discussions on various domains of the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership are on the agenda,” Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs Arindam Bagchi tweeted.

Japan Foreign Minister to hold bilateral talks; attend Indo-Japan forum

During the first day of his visit to the country, the Japanese Foreign Minister is scheduled to attend a meeting with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar at the Hyderabad House on Thursday evening.

On Friday, Minister Hayashi will attend the India-Japan Forum at the Imperial Hotel in New Delhi, following which he will leave India for his further tours of Sri Lanka, the Maldives, South Africa, Uganda, and Ethiopia till August 4.

The visit to India is part of an outreach program by Japan to bolster relations with the group of nations known as the ‘Global South’, Tokyo-based NHK World-Japan reported.

This visit will be Minister Hayashi’s second visit to the country after his March visit to attend the Quad Foreign Minister’s meeting in New Delhi.
