A new confrontation erupted today in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district, resulting in a soldier being injured. This marks the fourth encounter in the Union Territory over the past three days and the second within the Doda region of the Jammu division since yesterday.

The region has been on high alert following a deadly attack on June 9, where terrorists targeted pilgrims in Reasi, leading to nine fatalities. Just yesterday, security forces clashed with terrorists in the Kathua region, adding to the series of violent incidents.

Ongoing Operations in Challenging Terrain

A senior police officer reported this morning that a group of three to four terrorists was spotted in the higher reaches of Doda. A search operation was actively underway to neutralize these militants amidst the challenging mountainous terrain.

Injuries at Chattergalla Checkpost

In a related incident on Tuesday night, five soldiers from the Rashtriya Rifles and a Special Police Officer (SPO) sustained injuries when terrorists attacked a joint checkpost in the upper reaches of Chattergalla on the Bhaderwah-Pathankot road, a hilly area known for its strategic significance.

Strategic Response and Increased Security

Deputy Inspector General of Police for the Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban range, Shridhar Patil, explained the heightened security measures: "Over the past few days, we were getting information about the movement of terrorists through the intelligence branch of district police and accordingly, temporary posts jointly manned by army and police were set up in the higher reaches along with checkpoints on the inter-state road."

These proactive steps reflect the ongoing efforts by security forces to counter the persistent threat of terrorism in the region, aiming to maintain stability and protect the local population.
