A 25-year-old soldier of the Indian Army who had returned home on leave has been reported kidnapped from his vehicle in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district, according to his family.

The Army soldier has been identified as Javed Ahmad Wani, who hails from the Achathal area in Kulgam and was reportedly posted in Ladakh’s Leh region.

Wani went missing around 8:00 PM on Saturday, as per media reports. His car was later found abandoned in Paranhall last evening, as per officials’ statement to news agency PTI.

Following the incident, an extensive search operation has been initiated by the Indian Army and the police to locate the abducted soldier, leading to the cordoning off of the area.

Mother of missing soldier in Jammu and Kashmir appeals to all for son’s return

Before his disappearance, Wani had driven his car to Chowalgam for grocery shopping. Concerned about his prolonged absence, his family members started searching for him in nearby areas and surrounding villages. During the search, they discovered a pair of his slippers and blood stains inside his unlocked car in Paranhal village.

In an emotional video message, the mother of the missing soldier pleaded for her son’s safe return, saying, “My son in innocent and he is too young. I am seeking forgiveness if my son has committed any wrong. I appeal one and all to allow my son return home.”
