Two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) have been recovered early Monday morning from Jammu and Kashmir’s Handwara sub-district, a statement by the Handwara Police confirmed.

The IEDs were recovered from Handwara’s Wodhpura forest, which is near National Highway 701, by a joint Search and Destruction Operation (SADO) by the Indian Army and Handwara Police.

The operation was conducted based on a credible tip-off to the security forces. No casualties or injuries were reported during the operation.

Two IEDs of 5, 7 kgs recovered: Handwara Police

Handwara Police released a statement after the operation concluded, saying, “The operation resulted in the recovery of two sophisticated IEDs of approximately 5 and 7 kgs, concealed in the jungle area. The team immediately cordoned off the area with adequate security measures.”

“The positive identification of IED was carried out by Indian Army’s highly trained explosive detection team equipped with Explosive detectors and Army Dog,” the statement continued.

The security forces have launched an operation in the Handwara area to snare out any militants or IEDs from the area, the police have confirmed.

“The prompt action by the joint team of security forces averted major incident in the area,” the police said in the statement.
