Jammu and Kashmir: Bus skids into 200-feet-deep gorge in Doda, two killed, several injured

As per reports two were killed and several were injured after the bus, travelling from Bhalessa to Thathri in Doda.

New Delhi: A bus headed from Bhalessa to Thathri in the Doda region of Jammu and Kashmir went off the road and fell into a 200-foot-deep ravine, resulting in two fatalities and other injuries. The authorities reached the scene on time and a few lives were saved. The injured were taken to the hospital for aid.

The Deputy Commissioner in Doda, Harvinder Singh, has issued a statement on the accident. He mentioned the deaths of two people in the accident, along with 4 who were critically injured and 5 others who were referred to the hospital. Singh has referred a total of 9 people to the GMC (Government Medical College) in Doda. The reason for the accident seemed to be a malfunction in the bus. As per Harvinder, the driver tried his best to avoid the accident. However, 2 lives were lost in the accident. A total of 26 people were injured, including 2 children.

The nine further injured individuals, each with a reported bad condition, are receiving medical attention at the Government Medical College located in Doda.The tragedy occurred the day after a mother and boy were killed in the Poonch area of Jammu and Kashmir when a car went off the road and fell into a steep valley. The eight people in the Bolero car were reportedly traveling from Surankote to Srinagar. At Pannar, the car veered off the road and tumbled into a deep ravine. In the Kishtwar district on July 9, a car carrying three people went off the road and fell into a steep valley, resulting in three fatalities and three badly injured.

According to the officials, the accident happened at approximately 5:45 p.m. in the isolated Dachhan area, close to Sounder. They claimed that the rescuers had removed three people's bodies from the scene. Three further passengers were taken to the hospital in critical condition and evacuated. On June 30, an automobile in the Rajouri area plunged down a canyon, killing the man and his son and critically injuring his wife. Officials said that Shakeel Ahmad, a native of Krag Mohra village, was traveling from Kotranka to Shahpur with his wife Shamim Akhter and son Mohd Mukhtar.
