In a joint operation between the 29 Rashtriya Rifles and Baramulla Police, two terrorist associates of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) were arrested at a bus stop in Kreeri village in J&Ks Baramulla district, police officials said on Tuesday.Joint forces of Baramulla Police & 29 RR arrested 2 Terrorist Associates of LeT outfit at Chak Tapper Kreeri2 Pistol,2 Pistol Magazine & 14 Pistol rounds recovered Case under Arms & UA (P) Act registered:@JmuKmrPolice@KashmirPolice @DIGBaramulla @Amod_India@DivyaDev_ips pic.twitter.com/7skVe2aXuL— Baramulla Police (بارہمولہ پولیس) (@BaramullaPolice) July 25, 2023The two terror associates were identified as Dayem Majeed Khan, a resident of Panjigam, Bandipora, and Ubair Tariq, a resident of Watrina, Bandipora, as per local news reports.As per police officials, the police had set up multiple checkpoints and ambushes to intercept the suspected militants, who tried to flee upon seeing the security forces before being tactfully apprehended.“On specific information regarding the movement of terrorists in Kreeri, Joint forces of Baramulla Police and 29 RR placed an MVCP at a Bus Stop. Two suspect persons who were coming from towards the main road Kreeri tried to flee while noticing a joint naka party but were apprehended tactfully,” the official statement read.Arms, ammunitions recovered from Baramulla LeT suspectsAfter the two suspects were apprehended, they confessed to being linked to the LeT outfit, further detailing that they had collected arms and ammunition to carry out targeted killings across the Baramulla district.Police recovered two China-made pistols, two pistol magazines, 14 live pistol rounds, one ID card, and one photocopy of an Aadhar card from the militants.“Both are in custody. A case under Indian Arms Act and UAPA was registered in Police Station Kreeri,” the police further said in the statement, adding that further investigation into the matter is underway.
