Jaishankar, Sybiha meet in Munich, focus on trade, tech, lasting peace

Jaishankar's Multifaceted Engagements at MSC 2025. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar actively participated in the Munich Security Conference, engaging in discussions on bilateral cooperation, the Ukraine conflict, and the strengthening of democratic resilience, underscoring India's role in global affairs.

Meeting with Ukrainian Counterpart

Discussing conflict resolution and enhanced cooperation. On the sidelines of the conference, Jaishankar met with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha to discuss ongoing efforts toward resolving the Ukraine conflict and to explore ways to further advance bilateral cooperation. Jaishankar shared on X, "Discussed ongoing efforts towards resolution of the Ukraine conflict. Also spoke about further advancement of our bilateral cooperation".

Bilateral Talks with German Defense Minister

Cooperation and Ukraine development discussed. Jaishankar also met with Germany's Defence Minister Boris Pistorius to discuss bilateral cooperation and developments related to Ukraine. He noted on X, "Our talk revolved around bilateral cooperation and the Ukraine development".

Panel Discussion on Democratic Resilience

Highlighting India's democratic values. Jaishankar participated in a panel discussion titled 'Live to Vote Another Day. Fortifying Democratic Resilience' alongside Norway's Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store, US Senator Elissa Slotkin, and Warsaw Mayor Rafal Trzaskowski. During the panel, Jaishankar expressed optimism regarding India's democracy and emphasized its successful delivery, referencing the recent elections in Delhi and the 2024 parliamentary elections. He highlighted India as a "democracy that delivers" and voiced his disagreement with the prevailing political pessimism, also addressing concerns about foreign interference.

Meeting with Bavarian Prime Minister

Cooperation in economy, technology, and international views exchanged. In addition to these discussions, Jaishankar met with Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Soder to explore cooperation in economy and technology between the two countries. They also exchanged views on the international situation, with Jaishankar expressing his anticipation of welcoming Soder to India.
