Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Sunday slammed the Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his statements and announcements at the G20 and other Summits shows ‘sheer hypocrisy’ of him. Ramesh took a jibe over PM Modi, raising questions on G20 Delhi Declaration, not allowing Biden to interact with media, Biden’s statement during his brief visit to Vietnam and many more.

Taking it to his Twitter account, Ramesh slammed the Central government, he wrote, “The PM’s statements at the G20 and other summits globally are sheer hypocrisy. While destroying protections for India’s forests and biodiversity, and diluting the rights of Adivasis and forest-dwelling communities, he talks of environment, climate action and equity. Our statement on how his ‘Global Talk’ is completely at odds from the ‘Local Walk.’”

Another example of staggering hypocrisy: Ramesh over G20 declaration

While making a sharp attack on PM Modi, he underlined the G20 Delhi declaration, which harped on respecting religious and cultural diversity and promoting dialogue and tolerance, he called it another example of the “staggering hypocrisy of the self-styled Vishwaguru”.

Notably, the New Delhi declaration was adopted on the opening day of the summit, which was hosted under India’s presidency of the G20, in the national capital.

Ramesh mocks PM Modi over Biden’s speech in Vietnam

Apart from this, the Congress MP also slammed the government for not allowing US President Joe Biden’s team to speak to media or to take questions after the bilateral talks. Ramesh noted that US President Biden during his speech in Vietnam following G20 visit, spoke about human rights, role of civil society and free press, the same things that he said to PM Modi during G20.
