The Noor Dam, located near the Khonagoriya police station, broke late Sunday night following relentless heavy rainfall. Bodies displaced from graves as cemetery floods

One of the most tragic consequences of the flooding occurred at a cemetery near the dam. The rapid surge of water filled the cemetery, causing graves to be flooded. As a result, several bodies were dislodged from their resting places and began floating in the water. Local residents, horrified by the sight, quickly mobilized to retrieve five of the bodies, which were then placed in a safer location. The cemetery, now devastated, bears the scars of the flood, adding to the community’s grief.

Dam repairs underway

The authorities were promptly notified of the breach, and officials from the Khonagoriya police station arrived at the scene. With assistance from local volunteers, the police worked to recover the displaced bodies, using ropes to navigate the floodwaters. As a precaution, additional police personnel have been stationed near the Noor Dam to monitor the situation and prevent further incidents.

In the meantime, efforts to repair the damaged dam are underway. The administration is working tirelessly to control the situation and restore normalcy in the affected areas. No loss of life has been reported so far.
