New Delhi: Municipal authorities in Tadepalli, Guntur district, demolished the under-construction central office of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), citing alleged illegal construction, on Saturday morning. The action has ignited a fierce political controversy, with YSRCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy accusing the TDP-led government of orchestrating the demolition in defiance of high court orders.

In a scathing response, Reddy attributed the demolition to vendetta politics orchestrated by the NDA coalition comprising TDP, BJP, and Janasena. He likened the incident to dictatorial actions and condemned Chandrababu Naidu for what he described as an act of political retribution.
"The demolition of YSRCP's central office, carried out with excavators and bulldozers, was a clear display of vendetta politics," Reddy stated in a social media post.

According to YSRCP sources, the demolition commenced around 5:30 am despite the party approaching the High Court on Friday, seeking intervention against the preliminary actions of the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA). The party claimed that the CRDA proceeded with demolition despite a court order to halt all such activities, alleging contempt of court.
Responding to the allegations, CRDA and Municipal Town Planning officials asserted that the YSRCP office was constructed on land belonging to the irrigation department. They further claimed that the construction lacked necessary approvals from both CRDA and the Municipal Town Planning and Urban Development Authority (MTMC).
Political tensions escalated as allegations surfaced regarding the leasing of the land during Reddy's previous tenure as Chief Minister, purportedly at nominal rates and without proper permissions. Reddy's administration allegedly repurposed the land, originally designated for a boatyard.
Despite the setback, Reddy affirmed YSRCP's resilience, vowing to continue advocating for the people and denouncing what he termed as unlawful acts of political vendetta. The controversy surrounding the demolition of YSRCP's central office underscores the deepening political divide in Andhra Pradesh, with both parties preparing for further legal battles in the days ahead.
