Jammu and Kashmir: In Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district on Saturday, a tragic accident had occurred as the Army vehicle skidded from the road into a deep gorge killing two soldiers and injuring another three severely. The incident has taken place just near the Wular Viewpoint and forms yet another recent in a long string of tragic accidents the region has experienced.
An Army vehicle, which was part of a convoy, skidded off the slippery road near the Wular Viewpoint in Bandipora on Saturday morning and fell into a deep gorge. Two soldiers were declared dead at the spot, and three more were said to be critically injured. By Dr. Masarat Iqbal Wani, Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Bandipora, injured soldiers were rushed to this hospital where they were resuscitated and rushed to Srinagar for further medical care.
Three of the five soldiers injured in the accident have been found to be critical and were shifted to Srinagar for better treatment. The cause and nature of the accident still remain obscure due to the critical injuries of the personnel involved. Cold wave conditions and bad road conditions have also been brought into consideration although these have already been ruled out for foul play.
This mishap happened just a week after an incident in Poonch district, where a vehicle carrying soldiers fell into a rivulet resulting in the killing of five, while five other soldiers were seriously injured. Another accident near Line of Control that resulted in a critical injury was of the convoy. These accidents tell one about how challenging it has become for troops to operate amid such harsh conditions.
