New Delhi: Unidentified terrorists launched an attack on a Jammu and Kashmir Police team in the Thana Mandi area of Rajouri district on Tuesday evening. The incident has prompted a massive cordon and search operation by both the police and the Indian Army, as security forces work to track down the assailants.

The confrontation occurred around 7:30 PM when police and Rashtriya Rifles personnel responded to reports of suspicious activity in the lower Karyote village of Thana Mandi. Upon noticing the search parties, the terrorists opened fire before fleeing under the cover of darkness. No casualties or injuries have been reported so far.

More on the sudden attack

In response to the attack, additional forces have been deployed to secure the region, and the situation is being closely monitored. The swift response highlights the ongoing efforts to maintain security in the region, particularly in light of recent infiltration attempts. Just days earlier, security forces successfully thwarted two infiltration bids along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in the elimination of three terrorists.

The Srinagar-based Chinar Corps reported the recovery of weapons, including AK rifles, a pistol, and hand grenades, from the ongoing anti-infiltration operations in Tangdhar and Machhal areas. The ongoing operations underscore the persistent threat posed by terrorists in the region and the vigilance required to counter these challenges. The search for the attackers in Rajouri continues, with authorities committed to ensuring the safety and security of the area.
