Jammu and Kashmir News: On Monday morning, an Indian Army vehicle came under fire in the Akhnoor region of Jammu and Kashmir. The alert soldiers on board successfully thwarted the attack, preventing any injuries or casualties. “An army vehicle was fired upon in the Battal area of Akhnoor. No injury or causality was reported. A search operation has been launched,” Army officials stated, highlighting the troops’ vigilance in preventing a potentially lethal incident.

Escalation in recent terror attacks

This attempted strike follows a series of recent terror incidents across the region. Last week, two soldiers and two civilians lost their lives in an ambush targeting army vehicles in Baramulla. According to officials, the ambush occurred when a convoy carrying Rashtriya Rifles personnel and civilian porters was attacked on its way to the Nagin post near Gulmarg, around 6 kilometers from the popular tourist area.

Just days before, terrorists killed a local doctor and six non-local laborers at a tunnel construction site in the Gagangir area of Ganderbal. These back-to-back incidents have intensified security concerns throughout Jammu and Kashmir.

Indian army's anti-terror operations intensify

In response, the Indian Army has escalated its counter-terrorism efforts. On Saturday, the Romeo Force, in a collaborative operation with the Special Operations Group (SOG) police, uncovered a hidden terrorist base in Poonch’s Balnoi sector. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha addressed the situation, declaring, “Every drop of innocent blood spilt in the valley will be avenged, and all capabilities will be used to dismantle the terror ecosystem.”

Growing threat from across the border

LG Sinha criticized India’s neighboring nation, accusing it of supporting terrorism and narcotics trafficking despite domestic hardships. “Unfortunately, we have a neighbor who since the time of independence has continuously engaged in terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said, reiterating India’s commitment to avenging recent casualties and defending national security with reinforced vigilance
