Mohammad Ashraf Wani has been booked under several sections of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS). The charges include Section 74 (assault or criminal force intended to outrage a woman's modesty), Section 126(2) (wrongful restraint), and Section 351(2) (criminal intimidation). A formal FIR, number 77 of 2024, has been registered at the Nowgam police station. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to uncover the full context of the incident.
