Reasi terror attack: An overground worker (OGW) Hakimdin, has been arrested for his involvement in providing logistical support to terrorists responsible for the deadly attack on a bus carrying pilgrims in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district. The arrest, made in Rajouri, is a crucial breakthrough in the investigation, coming approximately 10 days after the tragic incident on June 9.

SSP Mohita Sharma of Reasi stated that the J&K Police have arrested Hakimdin, 45, who allegedly harbored terrorists multiple times. He provided them with food, shelter, and acted as a guide to facilitate the attack. Hakimdin is identified as a key militant associate involved in planning and executing the attack. The investigation and interrogation into the case are ongoing.

During the attack, terrorists targeted the bus en route to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine, which resulted in the loss of nine lives and left 41 others injured as the bus careened into a deep gorge following gunfire. The pilgrims aboard the bus hailed predominantly from Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi.

Here's what SSP Reasi Mohita Sharma said on Reasi terror attack:

Ongoing investigation

Authorities have detained around 50 individuals in connection with the attack, as efforts intensify to unravel the full extent of the terrorist network involved. The Union Home Ministry has transferred the case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for further scrutiny.

According to reports, indicate that the three Pakistani terrorists implicated in the attack were linked to a previous strike on an Indian Air Force (IAF) convoy in Poonch on May 4. These operatives are reputed for their proficiency in jungle warfare, armed with US-made M4 carbines, and capable of enduring extended periods in natural cave settings.

TRF claims responsibility

Initially, the Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba organization, claimed responsibility for the assault, later retracting their statement.

High-level review

Recently, Union Home Minister Amit Shah convened a high-level meeting in Delhi to assess the security landscape in Jammu and Kashmir in light of recent terror activities. Emphasizing preparedness ahead of the Amaranth Yatra pilgrimage, Shah instructed security agencies in the Jammu division to adopt stringent 'area domination' and 'zero terror' strategies, replicating successful measures implemented in the Kashmir valley.
