J-K News: A 45-year-old woman, injured in a grenade attack at a bustling flea market in Srinagar earlier this month, succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday morning, officials confirmed. Identified as Abida, a resident of Naidkhai in Bandipora district, she had been undergoing treatment at SMHS hospital following the November 3 incident.Police Arrest Three Lashkar-e-Toiba Terror AssociatesThe Jammu and Kashmir Police have made significant progress in the case, arresting three terror associates linked to the proscribed Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) outfit. Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, V K Birdi, revealed last week that the case was solved swiftly through meticulous investigation. “Srinagar police cracked the case in very less time and collected a lot of clues and witnesses and arrested the [three] terrorists and their associates in the case,” Birdi stated.Identities and Roles of the Arrested SuspectsThe apprehended individuals were identified as Usama Yaseen Sheikh and Umar Fayaz Sheikh, both residents of Ikhrajpora, Srinagar, and Afnan Mansoor Naik, originally from Watoo but currently residing in Ikhrajpora. According to police sources, Usama Sheikh, an over-ground worker with a history of involvement in terrorism-related activities, carried out the grenade attack.Key Details of the InvestigationPolice revealed that the suspects provided critical planning and logistical support for the attack, including conducting reconnaissance. Usama Sheikh had previously been arrested in 2018 in connection with a terrorism case registered in Nowhatta and had served time at Central Jail, Srinagar, before being released on bail.Further investigation uncovered that the suspects acted under the directives of two identified handlers affiliated with the Pakistan-based LeT outfit. The authorities have withheld the identities of these handlers as the probe continues.This incident has highlighted ongoing security challenges in the region.
