The Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has postponed a Class 12 Chemistry exam scheduled for Monday due to "unforeseen circumstances".

In a public notice issued shortly before the paper, the board announced that the Year 2024 ISC Chemistry Paper 1 theory test was rescheduled for the 21st March at 2PM citing the unspecified issues that had arisen.

The CISCE oversees the Indian School Certificates examinations taken by Grade 12 pupils across India as one of the country's central secondary education boards.

Monday's Chemistry Paper 1 exam is a key test for students in their final year of schooling. Over 2 lakh candidates are believed to sit the ISC exams annually.

The board has given no further details regarding the reasons behind the postponement as yet. With little notice provided regarding the delay, pupils will have likely already been enroute to examination centres as the announcement came.

The Chemistry paper's new date and time was confirmed as the 21st March at 2PM in the board's statement. It is unclear if other tests may be impacted by any ongoing problems faced. Students will hope for no further disruptions to the crucial exams with under two months left until the start of higher education terms.
