What is DMK’s response?

The ruling party in Tamil Nadu, the DMK, has also weighed in on the controversy. DMK spokesperson Saravanan Annadurai criticized Amit Shah's public demeanor towards Tamilisai. In his "What sort of political conduct is this? Is it appropriate to openly chastise a respected female leader from Tamil Nadu? Amit Shah ought to be aware that such actions are highly visible to the public. This sets a very negative precedent!"

What is happening within Tamil Nadu BJP?

The underlying issue seems to be a rumored rift between Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai and Tamilisai Soundararajan. This tension reportedly escalated after the BJP's poor performance in the Lok Sabha elections in Tamil Nadu. The BJP failed to secure any seats, and many party functionaries attributed the loss to Annamalai's leadership.

Fallout from the Lok Sabha Elections

AIADMK leader and former state minister SP Velumani openly blamed Annamalai for the breakdown of the BJP-AIADMK alliance prior to the elections. Tamilisai, who contested and lost the Chennai South seat, echoed this sentiment, suggesting that the alliance could have won up to 35 seats if it had remained intact.

Tamilisai’s recent comments on the election defeat and Annamalai's leadership have not gone unnoticed. She expressed her disappointment in a recent interview, indirectly criticizing Annamalai’s strategy. This has resulted in an online clash between supporters of both leaders, further exacerbating internal party conflicts.
