Atishi residence eviction: The Delhi Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) has accused Lieutenant-Governor V.K. Saxena of orchestrating the forcible removal of Atishi’s belongings from the official residence of the Delhi Chief Minister at Civil Lines. According to the CMO’s statement, the residence is allegedly being cleared for allocation to a "prominent BJP leader."

The residence in question, located at 6 Flagstaff Road, was previously occupied by Atishi’s predecessor, Arvind Kejriwal, who vacated the bungalow after stepping down as Chief Minister. Atishi, who had recently moved her belongings into the property, now faces allegations that the BJP, unable to win the Delhi Assembly polls, is attempting to "usurp" the CM’s residence.

Allegations of forced eviction, video surfaces

According to the Delhi CMO, the removal of Atishi’s possessions from the property took place on Monday. AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh was quick to respond, claiming that the bungalow had not yet been officially allotted to Atishi and accusing the BJP of playing a political game to take control of the residence.

Sanjay Singh also pointed out that the camp office of the Chief Minister, located within the bungalow's premises, had been vacated, further suggesting foul play. He labeled the BJP’s alleged actions as a desperate attempt to seize the residence after their repeated failures to win assembly elections in Delhi.

No response from BJP or LG’s office

Despite the serious accusations leveled by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), there was no immediate response from the Lieutenant-Governor’s office or the BJP regarding the matter. The Delhi CMO’s statement suggests that the Lieutenant-Governor is using his authority to favor a BJP leader in the allocation of this high-profile residence.

Arvind Kejriwal had occupied the bungalow for over nine years during his term as Chief Minister before stepping down. Atishi, who is now taking on a leadership role within the party, was expected to move into the residence after Kejriwal vacated it.

Political tensions continue to simmer in the capital

This incident adds to the growing political tensions between the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party. Accusations of the BJP trying to “usurp” the residence point to a larger battle for political power in the capital, with both parties vying for influence.

The AAP has consistently accused the BJP of trying to destabilize its government in Delhi. This latest dispute over the Chief Minister’s residence is seen as another chapter in the ongoing rivalry.
