Getting rail tickets for pet owners who like to travel with their pet pals can be challenging. However, the Indian Railways is attempting to ease this problem by proposing a solution. The Ministry of Railways has offered an online reservation service for cats and dogs, allowing pet owners to book tickets for their pets from their homes rather than waiting in long queues at ticket booking counters.Previously, pet owners had to go through the process of booking entire cabins, coupes, or first-class AC tickets for themselves and their pets at train stations parcel booking counters. They may also transport their dogs in a cage in the second-class luggage and brake van, which was not ideal. The Ministry of Railways has recommended a new approach to make travelling with pets more comfortable for travellers. The proposal calls for an online booking system for pets in AC-1 trains and the authorization of TTEs to book dogs on board. This new programme is anticipated to give pet owners increased convenience and ease when travelling with their animal pals. How does this make a differenceAccording to reports, the Railway Board has asked the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) to make the required software upgrades to permit online booking for pets on the IRCTC website. After the first chart of the train is made, customers can book tickets for their pets using the IRCTC website on their mobile or computer, as long as their own ticket is approved.Railway officials have indicated that once the online booking facility for pets becomes available, Train Ticket Examiners (TTEs) will also have the authority to book tickets for dogs and cats. Animals will be accommodated in the SLR coach, which is typically reserved for the guard. At train stops pet owners will be allowed to provide their furry companions with necessities such as water and food.To book pet tickets online, some prerequisites must be completed. First, the passengers ticket must be approved otherwise, the pets ticket booking would be invalid. Furthermore, pet reservations will not be refunded if the passenger cancels their ticket or if the train is stalled for more than three hours. In such circumstances, just the passengers ticket would be refunded.Furthermore, bigger domestic animals, including horses, cows, and buffaloes, must be booked and transported in cargo trains with an assistant to care for them during their trip. The animals owner will be accountable for any harm sustained during transportation, and the Railways accept no liability in such cases. To ensure a comfortable trip with your pet, make these required preparations ahead of time:You should book your train ticket online and print a copy of it. Second, ensure your pet has received all necessary vaccines and has the proper certificates. Third, obtain proof of fitness from a veterinarian at least 24-48 hours before leaving. Finally, include water, food, and accessories to keep your pet relaxed and occupied during the trip.Image: PixabayAlso, you must bring your dog to the baggage office at least three hours prior to the trains departure to make a reservation. You must pay the necessary luggage fees if you prefer to travel with your dog in an AC First Class or First Class coupe. Your dog is not allowed in AC2 tier, AC3 tier, AC Chair Car, Sleeper Class, or Second-Class cabins. Your pets may be relocated to the guards van without compensation if other travellers protest. Booking requires a veterinarian certificate stating your dogs breed, colour, and gender. You are fully responsible for assuring your dogs safe transportation and providing water and food for your pet during the trip. Finally, it is legal to transport pups in a carrier in any lodging class.
