Crime News: Five men have been booked in Indore for allegedly raping a woman and forcing her to dance naked, according to a police statement released on Tuesday. The case was registered 19 days after the Madhya Pradesh High Court directed the police to act on the woman’s complaint within 90 days, following her claims of police inaction.

Harrowing allegations

The woman filed a First Information Report (FIR) at Kanadia police station, detailing a horrifying incident that took place on June 11. According to the FIR, the accused forcibly took her to a warehouse where they raped her and subjected her to unnatural sex after watching explicit videos on television. The woman further alleged that she was beaten with a belt and forced to dance naked for half an hour.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abhinay Vishwakarma assured that the investigation would proceed swiftly, stating, "Appropriate legal steps will be taken in the case based on evidence."

Political tensions over delayed action

The delay in filing the FIR has sparked political controversy. State Congress spokesperson Neelabh Shukla accused the ruling BJP of exerting pressure to stall the case, claiming that one of the accused has connections to the party. In response, BJP spokesperson Narendra Saluja denied any political influence, asserting, "Whoever the accused is, the victim will definitely get justice in the BJP government. However, I have learned that both sides have lodged police complaints against each other in this case."

Despite the registration of the case, no arrests have been made yet. The police have booked the five accused under various sections of the Indian Penal Code.
