A 19-year-old student in Indore tragically ended his life on Tuesday night, allegedly driven to suicide after a woman teacher filed a rape complaint against him. The incident has sparked serious accusations from the student's family, who claim that the teacher had been harassing and threatening to implicate him in a false rape case for a prolonged period.
The family of the deceased, identified as Gaurav Hada, a BPharm student, alleged that the woman had been blackmailing their son and pressuring him for money. According to the family, the situation escalated when the teacher filed a complaint at the Mahila police station. They further claimed that officials at the station demanded a bribe of Rs 3 lakh to "settle" the case, eventually releasing Gaurav only after the family paid Rs 45,000.

After returning home from the police station on Tuesday night, Gaurav reportedly locked himself in his room, visibly distressed. Hours later, his sister discovered him hanging. Despite rushing him to two hospitals, Gaurav was declared dead. The following day, his grieving family staged a protest at the Mahila police station, placing Gaurav's body at the entrance and demanding the suspension of Inspector Kaushalya Chouhan.
According to additional commissioner Amit Singh, the teacher had accused Gaurav of threatening to make private videos of them viral on social media. However, Gaurav's family vehemently denied these allegations, asserting that their son had been blackmailed by the teacher for several months. They revealed that Gaurav had been attending English coaching classes for 11 months and had become involved with the teacher, who they claim began extorting money and restricting his interactions with other girls.
The family also stated that they had presented chat evidence to officers at the Mahila police station to prove Gaurav's innocence. Despite this, they alleged that the police demanded a bribe to avoid filing charges against him.
In the aftermath of Gaurav's death, the family is demanding accountability, calling for the suspension of the police inspector involved and an investigation into the alleged harassment and extortion that led to this tragic outcome. The case has raised serious concerns about police conduct and the potential misuse of legal provisions, leaving a family shattered and a community seeking answers.
